There was one major benefit to having a C-section at 12:01 am -- a long stay at the hospital. I know some people are eager to leave the hospital and take their babies home soon after giving birth. Apparently I am not one of those people. Because Thomas was technically born on Monday (by 1 minute) insurance covered our hospital stay through Thursday. By then we were ready to leave the North Austin Medical Center (and all their super nurses) and try to take care of Thomas by ourselves.
